  • Kim Soon-sik’s work bridges the gap between painting and ceramics, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary expression. His porcelain pieces often feature animals, particularly donkeys, rendered in a signature cobalt blue - a colour symbolising dreams and hope. To enhance the visual impact and preserve the delicate forms, Kim incorporates gold and silver elements, adding depth and refinement to his surfaces. A graduate of Kyunghee University College of Fine Arts and an exchange researcher at the Lingde Ceramics Research Institute in China, Kim has an extensive and respected career. His notable achievements include the creation of ceramic murals for the Korea Ceramic Foundation (2010) and Icheon City Bridge (2008), as well as designing painting patterns for Korean Air’s in-flight tableware (2005). His work has also been featured in significant cultural milestones, including the opening exhibitions of the Korean Pavilion at the British Museum (1997) and the Chunchu Hall of the Blue House (1991).
